This poster I create by the idea of “Appropriation and Reappropriation” which is the sixth topic of Chapter two (Viewers Make Meaning)from the book “ Practices of Looking: An Introduction to Visual Culture” book by Lisa Cartwright and Marita Sturken.

Appropriation and Reappropriation

Reappropriation is the technique that artist bring old work or the existing work to create new meaning or remaking them. This technique can use in various media and topic such as social, politic critique, music, TV, film, Advertisement, fashion , etc. We can reappropriate works by reordering, redisplaying,reusing images, brrow, transormed, or remix the work in new way.

This work I borrow the style from Barbara Kruger work because her work is one of well know work that was reappropriated by Supreme.

Audience can interpret this work in two ways

1. Interpret in term of politic aspect. Content of this work is about “The protesting against the government in Thailand 2020”. There are 3 main demands of this protesting which are dissolve the parliament (Reordering), new constitution (Rewrite), no intimidation (Reform the authorities)
2. Interpret in term of definition of “Appropriation and Reappropriation” which is techniques that bring the existing work to remake and create new meaning by reorderning,reforming and rewriting.

Therefore, if we interpret these 3 words; rewrite, reordering, reforming in politic aspect it meandissolve the parliament (Reordering), new constitution (Rewrite), no intimidation (Reform the authorities) and in appropriate art mean remake the work and create new works.
