Dipping Sauce Series by Maisie Cousins

Overall of this work is very colorful but when I spend time with it I feel pressured because the first photo is a women closing her eye and open the mouse a little which look like she suffocate. Other 3 photo is an insect die on flower. Flower might be the symbol of feminine. Last photo is a break cherry which hold by women and the colour of cherry look like blood. I think this work is about women violent.

“Nature is always beautiful and disgusting” although beautiful person also pee, blooding, and poo. She face up to the fact like an microscope that showing beauty and disgusting along together. This photograph series she print massive photograph that restaurant usually use to promote their product. The concept of this work is “we are what we eat”. Finally, we will end up with disgusting state.

Cut Piece by Yoko Ono

This work exhibit in the room. There are two video on the the wall which opposite to each other. The first video is black/white video. There is the middle age Asia women sit on the stage and audience cut her cloth little by little. Even though her cloth was cut but she still sit on the stage and don’t say anything. Moreover, production and resolution of the video look newer than the first one. On the other side of the wall there are another video that show old the women whom her cloth was cut by the audience which the main story similar to the first video that I saw. I start to observe these video and connected to each other. From my observation and analysis I found that the two women on these two are the same person but different period. So, the artist might re-exhibit this work. All of audience who cut the women cloth is Western. I think the artist might show that Asian was threaten by westerners and can’t say or fighting back. Moreover, this show might show the sexual harassment especially for women in our society.

This work represent gender, class and cultural identity. She reflected the issue that women portrayed as sexual object instead of object. The video show how aggressive people take action with sexual. As we can see in nearly the end of the video the man is person who cut off her bra straps. Moreover, it show that women has lower power than men.

Peek! By Charit Pusiri

There is 10 boxes that provided audience to peeking into it. I enjoy to peek into each box because I want to know what is the scene that the artist are telling about each place or room. I think each of the box is satirising Thai society about sexual that we usually see in news such as gay monk, sex abuse, having a fling, etc. Moreover, it might reflect to audience that we judge others by what we see but we don’t know the story behind it. In this work we see only one seen so we start to judge that she/he is good or bad.

This work is playing with what instinct of human which is wanting to know other people secrets and nosy. This ten photograph was put into the box and allow people to peek through the keyhole to see the photograph of each situation. Since, the artist capture only one scene of the whole situation so the audience might misinterpreting about that situation. So, this work reflects the social medial that have a lot of information which will lead to misleading information because of people’s imaginations an interpretation.

Harmonimilitary by I-na Phuyuthanon

I’m not sure about the main character who wearing green clothes. I think it is an alien because I heard the background that giving a sense of tying code, sci-fi and technology. Moreover, green cloth reminds me of alien. In part to story I think it about live of people and violent that happen with people who live in three southernmost provinces of Thailand because I see rubber tapping which is an occupation of southerners in Thailand. I saw they going to mosque so think that people who live in that area are Muslim. Lastly, I heart sound of guns and bombs so I know that this are is three southernmost provinces of Thailand.

Harmonimilitary is taking about survival and having a peaceful life in dangerous areas. Villager and herself study Qur’an and thankful Allah to make themselves comfort and see the beauty of their surroundings. She interviewed the nurse whom her husband was accused that he was a murderer. She overcome this obstacle by believing that everything happen because of god. So, we just blend into the situation so we will survive. Moreover, she showing the beauty of nature and culture of the village under protecting by the military.

Law of Journey by Ai Weiwei

At first I stunned by size of the art work. I very big installation art and very impact ti me. I think this work is about migration because of the the way people sit on the boat it similar to the photo about immigrants that I have read before. It show how big of people of this group are because there are a lot of people sit very so close to each other that no more space in the small boat. I can assume that they need to go on the boat as much as possible because there are a lot of immigrants left.

This is the work that he make after visit visiting 40 refugee camps in 20 country. This big black boat fill with enormous faceless refugee figure that represent refugees who escape from Bangladesh, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Gaza, Mexico and others.

Conspiracy by Zhou Ziaohu

This work separates into two frame which the left frame is animation and right frame is the story that was writing on the paper furthermore these two frame related to each other. I know that it related to each other because there are the scene that the mosquito fly near the women face and suddenly she slapped it and on the other frame the artist draw the mosquito and suddenly cross it out. In my opinion this work is about the protest about politic to call out for something. This situation also includes the violent situation because in the the video show that there are the anonymous are shooting to the man. This protesting is very powerful because there are a lot of people join this protest. I guess that this protest having relationship between Western and Hong Kong. The reason that I think it is HK because the the video show that the artist writing Chinese language and there are one scene that using water cannon to fire water at protesters which same as the news that I have seen before. I’m not understand why the man character in the video need to be women.

Conspiracy is surreal animation video that split in to two screen. These two screen related to each other. It telling about politic and violent. In the video show the artist draw the assassin shooting to the politician where as the women body which show in another screen also killed.

Flow by Souliya Phoumivong

This is sculpture of buffalo and human that walk follows each other in a circle. It showing human since they was born as a human gradually transform to buffalo and die by falling into buffalo mouse. In my opinion this work is showing that people follow other people in society since we were born until die. Indeed there are some powerful group of people are controlling you! There are no one different and he lets one group of people lead their around by the nose like buffalo. This situation continued happen like a looping.

This installation about life in Ban Kokxay. It show buffalo and human walk follow each other to abyss and don’t against it. There are some buffalo that equal more than other so it transform to human and walk hopelessly to nowhere. Finally, greed and gluttony lead them to the last place to escape.

KABUL by Kubra Khademi

When I look at this set of painting I feel discomfort. The character look painful because of their action which is fighting. In my opinion these two characters have some relationship between each other because they have line that connect them which look like umbilical cord. Moreover, in the third painting it look like the first women hit another women and the fourth painting one of them try to cut the line that connect them. So, I think they might have conflicting and want to separate.

This work represent her hometown that male extremely dominated society. These two women in the painting is she and her mother. She imagine the women look like nymphs which is the symbol of desire and fertility. She get out of prohibition and braves atrocities of nudity painting.

Dragoner Panzer (Dragoon Tank) by Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch

There are seven ceramic tank which paint with blue-white look like Chinese ceramic in history. I think this work is about military and war because of the tank which use in war. For the painting that paint on the ceramic tank it might telling about the beauty of war or culture.

This work inspired by the story of Augustus the Strong and the Soldier king. Both go them value power in on different object. Augustus the Strong show power by number of Chinese porcelain vase where as Soldier king show power by size of the army. So, they exchanged this two thing to each other. This work represent the value of exchanging value which people choose to showing their power.

Money by Kubra Khademi

I stunned by the size of this work because it very big and the painting have a lot of detailed. I think each banknotes is another way to show identity of each country such as culture, famous place, and famous person.

The changing of world will decrease value of money and back to normal paper due to economic issue, diseases, and online platform that not require banknotes to be the medium of exchanging. Moreover, each banknotes can show identity of each country. This work might remind people to think about money in their wallet that today it is valuable but tomorrow might valueless is already happen.
